Petition: End “Sport” Where Hunters Pay $2,000 To Shoot Terrified Pigs From Helicopters

There are around six million feral hogs in America and around half of them reside in Texas. These hogs are infamous due to their propensity for eating crops and hunting animals. Brought over as livestock around the 1980s and 1990s, some hogs escaped and the feral population grew. They are now considered an invasive species due to their negative impact on the environment. Unfortunately, many individuals use this as a reason to frighten and brutally kill these poor animals.

In Texas, multiple companies offer helicopter pig-hunting experiences that cost around $2,000 to $4,500.  There are disturbing videos all over the internet that show people shooting these poor creatures from the comfort of a helicopter. One reviewer said it was the “Most fun you can have all day long!” Hunters pay to spend two hours in a helicopter with unlimited ammunition. Most of the participants murder about two dozen hogs, but some have killed up to 50 during their ride. This is such a cruel way to be “entertained” and an extremely inhumane way to deal with a manmade feral population issue. No animal should ever be treated like this! Sign this petition to ask Texas lawmakers to end the practice of massacring pigs for “fun!”
